Road Trip to Savannah – Part 2
You would think since we had been driving for 2 days straight to get to Savannah we would be tired and sleep in but no. We were up by 9:00 and started our day off with a walk down to River Street. Now clearly this street is amid at tourists but if you can look pass the souvenir shops and look at the waterfront, the cobblestone road and the old cotton warehouses you can see a glimpse into the past of this amazing city. After walking down the entirety of River Street we made our way up to Broughton Street which is home to many great restaurants, vintage shops, art stores, local retail stores and big name corporate stores.

Stopping for a quick, inexpensive and tasty Japanese lunch at Sakura (116 E Broughton St.), then on to a little shopping! My favorite shop in Savannah is Civves (22 E Broughton St.) it really is a vintage shop wonderland full of vintage, recycled and new clothing where you can buy/sell/trade your vintage clothing. They even have great little vintage lingerie grab bags (which needless to say I purchase and it rocks!) This is hands down a place for any vintage lover or someone who wants an original piece of new clothing to check out while in Savannah.

{these tree canopies are on almost every street you drive down}
This city is meant to be seen on foot or on a horse and carriage ride because of the great architecture and the amazing squares through the historical part of this city (there are 24 to be exact). You really need to slow down your day to day passe to take in all this city has to offer. We ended our first night in Savannah with an awesome, inexpensive Mexican meal at Carlito’s (119 MLK Blvd.) where they have super large margaritas. (The below margarita is their medium size and is only $7!) After drinking most of it I was not walking straight out of that restaurant let me tell you.

{bad quality picture but you get the idea of how big that margarita really is}
{needed to rest in the room after the margarita}
Our second day in Savannah the sun was shinnying and we had to take this day to get on the beach so we drove about 20 minutes east to Tybee Island where we spent the whole afternoon walking down the beach taking pictures of the birds and taking in the silence other then the calming clashing of the waves on the shore line. Although it was colder then we thought it would be nothing compares to not having snow on the ground around you in the month of December. After walking around all afternoon we both worked up quite an appetite and headed off to Casbah (118 E Broughton) for an evening of Moroccan food and belly dancers. A four course meal will only set you back $30 per person! Now I had never had Moroccan food before this day and let me tell you it was the best dinning experience I have every had, the server was very knowledge able and took us through the traditional eat rituals of the Moroccans, while a belly dancer entertained us through our dinner.
{just kicken it on the beach}
{so nice to see no buildings}
{my handsome man just chillen taking it all in}
{I just think it is funny that they even have to put up this sign}
Well we are half way through. Only 2 more post of our trip. Stay tuned for a great ‘home video’ of our trip to Savannah coming up in Part 4!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend~
