New Year brought in with a Road Trip

I AM BACK!!! It really has been sometime since I have posted on my own blog and Amanda has been owning my blog with her great ‘Where to Travel in 300 Words or Less’ posts. If they don’t make you want to travel I think something might be wrong with you! Paul and I just got back into our beautiful new home which we moved into 2 weeks before we took our biggest road trip back to see my mom for Christmas. Which I think I can say was the best Christmas ever! Maybe because it has been 3 Christmas’ without my family.
Our road trip took us through the whole province of Ontario which was surreal plus 6 states totally over 5,1000kms done in 2 days each way. We spent a night & morning in Chicago which is a city we will have to go back to and explore. If you are from Chicago I would love if you could comment on some of the MUST see and do while there. Our last American city to spend some time in before getting back into Canada was Detroit and let me tell you I was devastated when we were driving through there. It is one thing to see pictures of this once great city turned to ruins with the ever declining automotive industry. Rush hour in downtown Detroit does not exist while these beautiful huge completely abandoned high rises tower above you. It was quite a sad sight.
I am not going to lie I am very happy to be a Canadian after spending time in the states I have truely realized how good we have it up here.
Well that is all for me today! January markets 2 years of blogging and I will be back with what I have in store for this year to come and to re-cap of how far I feel I have come out of my shell in these past 2 years!
Much Love,

Hey!
I’m jealous of your road trip! Chicago is my favorite city. Let me know when you plan on going back – I’m only five hours away!!

I live in Detroit, and can definitely assure you that we do have a rush hour here, and that the city is improving quite dramatically over the past 5 years, despite what the media portrays. We have a fantastic art, craft and music scene here, and if you ever would like to come back and spend time in the city more than just driving through it, I would be happy to show you around town!
I am so happy to hear that Detroit is improving! I don’t hear anything about it in the media maybe because I am in Canada but the city is beautiful. I have seen a lot of great artist sites on Etsy from Detroit I think we might not of been in the best place to form an option of Detroit. We hope to make a trip back this summer or next since Paul’s grandmother grow up there in the 1930s and we want to see where she grew up and what not. I will keep you posted because I would love a MUST see/do list or personal guide for our trip.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and I hope you have a wonderful new year!
I’d be happy to show you around or at least give you a long list of recommendations! Send me an email when you make plans to come back to the D! Most of our real gems are a bit hidden, but I can let you know where they are :)
