A Magical Bike Ride

Paul has been really busy lately designing an online game for the launch of the new Internet Explorer interface.  (game launch June 10 stay tuned for details!)  So needless to say I haven’t seem much of him since our trip to Barbados but this past Saturday we rented Bixi’s and he took me on the most magical bike ride around the St-Helen and Notre Dame Islands of Montreal.  I really feel as though Notre Dame Island is a hidden treasure to Montreal even though it holds some of the biggest tourist attractions like the Formula 1 Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Casino de Montreal,  and the Beach.  But I find few go there to enjoy the Floralies gardens, which is the legacy of the 1980 Floralies Internationals horticultural fair.   There are tens of thousands of annuals and an impressive variety of perennials, trees, and shrubs, including some rare species.  You can walk or bike ride through different country gardens which really make you feel not only out of the city but out of the country. But there are so many hidden places on this island that I am not to sure if I could find them again.  There is no map of the gardens I can find, so it is really about getting on the island and exploring.  Ahh… what a wonderful, under rated island (which I am fine with as it keeps that hideaway feel)

The vegetation on this island is truly magnificent, along with the inhabitants.  The first time I was on the island I saw a fox but this time we saw a fox walk right past us, then turn around and came to us.  Close enough to touch.  I wish I could of captured that moment on camera but it will forever be etched in my mind.   Such a magical but mysterious creature.  Truly the highlight of the day.   Now to a little photo dump of our excursion. NOTE: Photos look crisper on Flickr.

That pretty much covers my amazing weekend.  Sunday we watched some basketball playoffs and just enjoyed some sweet alone time. I hope you all had a wonderful sunshine filled weekend! I’d love to hear what you where up to!

Much Love,

ah, that looks like a magical day indeed! one of my favorite things is to get lost in botanical gardens; there’s always so much to look at, but I never feel overwhelmed since it’s nature. That encounter with the fox sounds best of all!

Thank you @morenica We are like big children that refuse to grow up but yet are smart enough to know what we need to do to get ahead. I am very lucky to have him and all his silliness!

@Amanda I wish I would of taken you here when you were here too, but to be honest I had never been there yet. It really is a hidden treasure in Montreal.
