Much Love – R.I.P. Jack Layton

This morning I am having a bit of a harder time finding things that I love as our dear New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton has passed away at 61. Canada lost a great leader this morning and it makes me a little sick to my stomach to think of the direction Canada will go in the next years without a strong leader to back the New Democratic Party. But I guess only time will tell right? My thoughts are with the Layton family and all the people Jack has touched in his lifetime. (Which is all of Canada)

With the departure of Jack on this earth and his push to help everyone have a post-secondary education I thought it was only fitting that I share my library card I finally went and got after almost 4 years of living in Montreal. As the era of print is dying I seem to find refuge in libraries more then I use to. I guess you could say that la Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec will soon be one of my fondest happy places in Montreal.

I know my blog post is not the happiest to start off your week but if you head over to Anna’s Much Love you will find lots of lovely things to start your day off on the right foot.

Until we meet again. Much ,

P.S. If you have yet to read Jack Layton’s last letter to Canada I highly suggest you do so here. I cried so maybe have a tissue close by.

I was so sad to hear about his passing, he was so young too! It’s a huge loss to the country.

I was so shocked and saddened to wake up and see this news this morning! We lost such a charismatic leader. :(

  3. Sorry for your loss. But glad you got a library card. In my opinion, libraries are truly magical. All that information and imagination in one place!

His letter definitely brought tears to my heart, as did Jack’s passing. He was a breath of fresh air to our country & was the start of something new. I truly hope the torch will be carried on, but honestly I don’t think anyone else had his passion or charisma (or sense of social justice).
This post is wonderfully written, and you make me want to go use my library card!
Funny thing, my brother just told me that his library now has books for iPads (he’s already signed out a few)!! Weird, yes? So much for going to the library for the printed word! ;)

It made me very sad too! :(
