Much Love – R.I.P. Jack Layton

This morning I am having a bit of a harder time finding things that I love as our dear New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton has passed away at 61. Canada lost a great leader this morning and it makes me a little sick to my stomach to think of the direction Canada will go in the next years without a strong leader to back the New Democratic Party. But I guess only time will tell right? My thoughts are with the Layton family and all the people Jack has touched in his lifetime. (Which is all of Canada)

With the departure of Jack on this earth and his push to help everyone have a post-secondary education I thought it was only fitting that I share my library card I finally went and got after almost 4 years of living in Montreal. As the era of print is dying I seem to find refuge in libraries more then I use to. I guess you could say that la Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec will soon be one of my fondest happy places in Montreal.

I know my blog post is not the happiest to start off your week but if you head over to Anna’s Much Love you will find lots of lovely things to start your day off on the right foot.

Until we meet again. Much ,

P.S. If you have yet to read Jack Layton’s last letter to Canada I highly suggest you do so here. I cried so maybe have a tissue close by.

Eight – Much ♥ Monday

This much love monday I want to talk about kindness, because I love it and find it to be rare in a pure form. Where a singular person does something kind without wanting anything in return other then to put a smile on your face. And that is exactly what this little heart necklace did when I received it from Dita last week.

Now Dita and I meet online with a simple act of her being kind. So let me tell you how our friendship came about, while Etsy surfing I came upon her shop and hearted a few items , one of them being ‘You Are Your Haters Wannabe‘ print. A few days later I received a message from Dita through Etsy saying she would like to send me the print for free, just because she likes to do random things. Now this is a girl after my own heart, because I am random (see vlog). I received the print along with some photos she had taken around Bogor, West Java where she lives! I sent her a letter back with some random goodies and the online friendship, and offline blossomed. I follow along on her blog, listen to some of her music and of course tweet with her. Her initial act of kindness created a friendship with two ladies on different parts of the world. That’s pretty special.

Kindness is something we can spread around. Do something big or small today to put a smile on someone else’s face. You may be surprised how much joy you get out of the deal too!

Until Tomorrow. Much ♥,

P.S. I made some changes to my side bar like added some grab buttons that work, along with a little poll on ad space on The House Of Hearts. I would love if you would help spread the love and as always make sure to check out more Lovely Starts to the week over at Anna’s Much Love Monday!

One – Much Love Monday

If you saw my last post you know I am participating in The August Break, which I am really excited about so great ready for a month of pictures doing the talking! Of course I will have some normal posts in the mix catching up on our recent trips NYC and Costa Rica along with Mail posts but this is the last month of summer and I’ll be honest I have spent to much of it infront of this computer!
So my ‘break’ will be the separation from myself and my computer. I am going to get my butt outside more and enjoy the sunshine. Plus I am going to finally wrap up all my off the computer projects so that September will be a clean slate for me to start with, because I am going back to school!!! Night school that is to take a Publication & Web Design program which I can’t wait to start. Since I work in the web design industry already I just wanted to sharpen my nerd skills just a little more.

Below is a sketch Paul did over the weekend.

Until We Meet Again. Much ♥,

P.S. Need some more ♥ this morning? Head over to Anna’s blog for some Much Love Monday action!

Much Love & Giveaway Winner

Yesterday was Paul’s 30th birthday and although nothing really went as planned it is still great because I have the love of my life by my side. I wish I had tons of money and could give Paul all the crazy adventures he wants for his birthday as he gives me but I do not have large money bags at the moment. But I feel like the 30 gifts I had planned out for him made up for the lack of adventure on his birthday. (photos soon!) I am thinking a birthday redue is in order, what do you think?

Now to the giveaway. I just want to THANK all my readers who have followed me this past year. I have changed the direction of this blog a few times but feel that Mailart, Travel and Photography remain my main passions so that is what you will find the most of. Thank you for sticking around through my ramblings and inspirations!

I will be sending you 3 ladies an email shortly to get your mailing address.

Until We Meet Again. Much ♥,

Much Love Monday

There is something so lovely about the sound & smell of coffee being ground in the morning. It gives me the feeling that each day will start of fresh and it is my choose what direction I want each day to go. Paul is usually out of bed earlier the me and makes the coffee but if it is on the weekend and Paul is making the coffee it usually leads to us to our kitchen table where we spend our whole Saturday. Him drawing, me creating something from one of the many hobbies I have picked up over the past 3 years, drinking to much coffee and dreaming of our next adventure together. I treasure these Saturdays because they seem to have been happening fewer and further between due to Paul working on multiply projects at once leaving him to work 12+ hours most of the weekdays. (Which is also the reason we can have our crazy adventures together. So I can’t complain!)
Below is the creation of my new sketchbook turned awesome art journal that I put together over the weekend. (Along with 3 CD covers/books)

Much Love Monday – Pura Vida

{ photo taken at the lookout in Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio, Guanacaste, Costa Rica }

Alright so I know I said I would have my Through The Eyes Of A Local: Montreal ready for you a few weeks ago BUT Paul and I took an unexpected trip to Costa Rica so I was kind of in a frantic to get ready for our trip. And let me tell you it has changed my life. The people we meet were so kind, pure and genuine that out of all my travels I have yet to experience what we experienced in Costa Rica and I have traveled some pretty remote places in my time on this earth.
I have so much to share with you guys but for now I am having a pretty hard time adjusting to being back in Western ‘civilization’. But don’t fret I have some serious time this week to devote to my blog so you are in for some sweet treats.
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. I would love to hear what you are up to.

More Much Love Monday Here.

Much Love Monday

I missed Much Love Monday last week with good reason because I was recuperating from our overnight bus from NYC to Montreal. This heart shaped pizza was taken on our trip and I thought it would be a yummy time to share my favourite food blogs with you.
I like the yellow sticker that reads ‘How can you hate what you emulate…(not sure what the last word says)

+ Eva over at Adventures In Cooking takes the most beautiful photos of her yummy creations. In dreamland we are neighbours {highly suggest reading her About page because I am sure you will want to be neighbours in dreamland with her as well}

+ My sister Amanda has started another blog but this time the focus is food! The Sweet Details is an interactive blog where you can share your recipes, be featured as well as Amanda sharing her baking and cooking. She is a machine when it comes to the kitchen and posts something she has baked almost everyday. I just don’t know where she finds the time to do it all.

+ Naomi over at The Gluttonous Vegan has the healthiest blog around. Although I have yet to cook any of her recipes reading her blog makes me want to eat healthier for myself and our planet.

Have you seen the below photo floating around the internet lately? Well I hope you have as it is part of a wonderful pothole series done by one creative couple Claudia and Davide.

+ Claudia also does a wonderful food blog Letizia Golosa where her passion for good food and a great shot shine.

I highly suggest you go show these food ladies some lovin’. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and got out and enjoyed the sunshine! Paul and I geeked most of the weekend plus booked a quick trip to Costa Rica and leave in 5 days! I feel really bad for not posting my Montreal response to Through The Eyes Of A Local yet but this is where the perfectionist in me comes out. Ahh… I will tweek it more this afternoon.

Much Love,
