Shout Out for Jodeb

You may ask who is Jodeb?  Well he is one of Paul’s friend and one damn good director and an amazing VFX artist.

Now when the news hit Paul that Jo would be be directing a Cypress Hill music video, clearly he wanted to go and meet one of his favourite bands, but business is business. One thing I have to say is that Jo is such a genuine guy through and through. Even though he has jumped up that latter with his talent and crazy imagination he has not let it get to his head.  Living in Montreal you see clearly and quickly who let is genuine and real, but I digress.

This video just came out today so sit down and be prepared to be blown away! It does have mature content so be warned!

Here is the behind the scenes of the music video which is always one of my favourite parts.  You’ll even see Jo in there!

Focus on your craft, give all that is within you to your passion and good things will come your way sooner or later.

Congrats Jo on another amazing and out of this world video!

Until next time,

Time well spent in the Exchange District

My 2+ week sabbatical from the computer and internet has come to an end but I fully enjoyed myself. I went home to spend time with my family and friends which was much needed as it can get a little lonely over here in Montreal since all my friends have moved away and let’s be honest it seems to be harder to make friends as an adult unless you have a common interest. Lately it seems the common interest of people I meet are babies and husbands. Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with that and everyone has their path in life they choose. I guess I just never want to grow up and a wise man ones told me that ‘Growing Old is Mandatory but Growing Up is Optional‘.
This little rant is brought on by running into many people I haven’t seen in a long time back in Manitoba asking me how my husband is and how many kids I have now. I am not married and I don’t plan to have kids until I am ready which I am guessing will be closer to my 40’s. I think it is just the social convention of Manitoba to graduate high school and either {A} get married and start popping out kids or {B} go to University, then get married and then start popping out kids. No time left for the individual or dreams/careers or {C} travel the world a bit, then get married and start popping out kids. Now don’t get me wrong there are some exceptions to this ‘rule’ but the pressure to fit into that mould will always be there. Please do not take this as I am anti-marriage or anti-kids but I feel that as a society we do not give ourselves enough time to develop as human beings and just move through the motions that are set out for us. Alright enough of a rant.
I spent one of the best days in Manitoba with my sister and it was full of surprises. We headed down to the Exchange District which is one of my favourite places in Manitoba because of the old buildings, history and well the art sense is slowly started to get recognized down there as well. The City of Winnipeg is really pumping money into making the downtown core rock again and this might just have something to do with The Winnipeg Jets coming back into town. Either way I love it!
We enjoyed the noon day sun listening to the musical stylings of James Struthers a local musician who can be compared to Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Paul Simon along with the sultry sweet voice of Kat Morgan, a 16 year old songtrist from Kamloops, BC. Who just so happens to be the youngest performer ever on a Lilith Fair stage.

After the music died down Mandi and I where asked to be in a Super8 movie which was quite great since I never thought that would be something I would get to be a part of. The film being shot was for One Take Super8 Event to be held in Winnipeg.

The One Take Super 8 Event (OTS8) began in 2000, with 20 filmmakers each shooting a single reel of Super 8 film, which then premiered to an audience without the filmmakers seeing their work beforehand. All the films were shown as shot. No cuts. No splices. The popularity of this non-competitive festival has allowed it to return each year with more filmmakers participating. To date over 750 films have been created for the One Take Super 8 Event! –Taken from One Take Super8

I secretly want to fly back to Manitoba to see the screening of these films on Sunday, October 2 at 7pm at The Gas Station Theatre. If you make it there let me know how they are, okay?
{above} Mandi & her pup Ollie looking happy & sweet. {below} Hitting the road back home!Since I am not “cool enough” to ride a scooter (a little jealousy in voice) I took a walk back to my mom’s condo and snapped a few photos along the way.
Well that is all for me for today. I have finally got my database backed up after a long drawn out process but alas no one should receive any further Polish posts in your reader. PLEASE let me know if you receive one and I will look into it further.

Until we meet again. Much ,

A Music Filled Week

Just received a signed copy of the new Sublime with Rome album because they messed up our pre-order. Thanks guys you rock!!! And staying in the theme of music you might just fall in love with some new artists so scroll and click along!
This past week we have had some very talented musicians staying with us who also happen to be some of the kindest people you will meet. Oh how I miss Friendly Manitoba for the people! I have been taking full advantage of this August Break with getting out of the house and showing these guys around our beautiful city. I have become such a home body since I moved to Montreal that I forgot how much fun it is to go out and how interesting it is to people watch after the sun goes down!

It’s Monday morning and I am having withdrawal not having people around our home. The Noble Thiefs have left Montreal and are continuing their Eastern Tour with Nash, French Press and Greg Arcade.
If you missed them in Montreal, shame on you. BUT if you are in Toronto, London, Hamilton or Kingston they are coming your way so clear your schedule and get your dancing shoes on because they will bring it!

Monday, August 15, 9PM – The Horseshoe Tavern, 370 Queen Street West, Toronto
The Noble Thiefs @ The Horseshoe Tavern w/ The Heels, Psycho Mad Sally

Wednesday, August 17, 7:30PM – The Mansion, 506 Princess St. Kingston, ON
The Noble Thiefs @ The Mansion w/ Nash, Greg Arcade

Thursday, August 18, 7:30PM – The Corktown Pu, 175 Young St., Hamilton, ON
The Noble Thiefs @ Corktown w/ Nash, The Elwins

Friday, August 19, 7:30PM – Call The Office, 216 York St. in Downtown London, ON
The Noble Thiefs @ Call The Office w/ Nash, The Elwins

Our ears lead us to The Midway State who sound a lot like Mute Math to me but was pretty good none the less.

{ Greg is mad for PB and Cherries! }

{ king caramel is always life of the party. NO kitty was harmed for this photo! source. } { strike a pose. source. } { The Noble Thiefs played infront of Le Pick Up on Des Pins which made me think of the excitment of The Beatles playing on the Rooftop in 1969. } { I love the Pip & Hat guy at 1:50, so classy! }
{ Even the guy in the Mu-Art van is loving The Noble Thiefs } { The only photo I took all night – Nash. You know how I talked about kindness last week? Well you must see Nash’s video because it is right in line with what I was saying. }

Well I was sad to see them go but so happy that I finally got to hear them live. I have heard the progression of this band from day one and I am so pleased with the sound they found that is purely The Noble Thief’s but just so happens to come with a time machine to bring you back to the twisten days.

Until we meet again. Much ,

P.S. Need a little more then music for a pick me up today? Check out Anna’s Much Love Monday Post.

The Mixed Share Swap

Now that I have sent out both of my mixes and received two in return from Bianca’s The Mixed Share Swap, I thought I would share some musical stylings with you.
+ Received this is from Grace in the UK.

I created little books for my CDs and filled them with favourite lines from songs, fun & random facts along with some bragging since Paul is in the music industry and has done his share of music videos. I couldn’t miss an opportunity to brag about my man!
+ Sent off to Brodie in Australia.
